Education Week begins March 5

The College of Education will celebrate its annual Education Week March 5–10. The event features speakers, activities and events centered on important issues facing today’s educators. Events are free and open to the public.

Here are the highlights: 

• March 6:  Author and educator Annette Breaux will share practical techniques for effective classroom management. The keynote presentation begins at 

7 p.m. in Stotler Lounge in Memorial Union.

• March 7: Deborah Hanuscin, an associate professor of science and physics, will discuss the importance of mentorship. 

The event is at 7 p.m. in Memorial Union’s Stotler Lounge.

• March 8: The College of Education Ambassadors will host a panel discussion called “Do YOU Have What It Takes?” at 7 p.m. in Memorial Union’s Stotler Lounge. Speakers are Columbia public schools officials.

• March 10: Kappa Delta Pi, the College of Education’s honor society, will host a 5K run beginning at 10 a.m. at  Townsend Hall. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Columbia Housing Authority’s “Moving Ahead Program.” Register the morning of the event starting at 9 a.m. or by email at mizzoukdp@gmail.com.

Food items will be collected in the Townsend Hall lobby for the Buddy Pack Food Drive to benefit the Central Missouri Food Bank.
