Talking science education

Cary Supalo of the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University will lead the semester’s first Sandra K. Abell Conversations about College Science Teaching 11:30 a.m. Sept. 21 in 572 Bond Life Sciences Center.

Supalo will discuss “Multisensory Science Learning Techniques for Students with Special Needs: Seeing Chemical Reactions Through Sound.”

Abell, who died in 2010, was director of the MU Science Education Center and a champion of science education. She initiated “Conversations About College Science Teaching” to develop, share and celebrate best practices in teaching science.
