The Mizzou Advantage Undergraduate Research Teams, which are designed to create interdisciplinary research-based working groups comprised of faculty mentors and undergraduate students, will host another Pizza and Projects event from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, in Gwynn Hall. Free pizza will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Life Sciences and Society Program used its Mizzou Advantage grant money to establish two campuswide working groups in Evolutionary and Science Studies. Evolutionary Studies uses evolutionary theory to understand a broad range of biological and cultural processes while Science Studies investigates the reciprocal interaction of science and culture. At the Pizza and Projects event, members of the groups Heidi Apple, Andre Ariew, Mary Shenk and Lynn Chiu will lead a discussion about the two new working groups.
Also, Janet Saidi’s “Food, Fuel and Society” project was an interactive forum to promote education and understanding around the issues of food and fuel in today’s society. At the event, Saidi will the outcomes from her project and hopes for the future.
