Human Resource Services will hold its annual training conference Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 in Memorial Union.
More than 50 concurrent sessions will enable attendees to learn more about topics, such as benefits, technology training, wellness and personal and professional sessions. The speakers are primarily University of Missouri staff and faculty who are experts in their fields.
Reduced budgets make it difficult for departments to send employees off campus for various training opportunities, said Bonnie Gregg, manager of Human Resource Support Services.
“For several years, MU’s Human Resource Services division has come up with cost-effective solutions that allow staff to get free top-notch training and indulge in personal and professional development on campus.”
While this year’s conference is intended for campus, MU Extension, University of Missouri System and University Health Care staff employees, Gregg explained faculty from those groups are invited to two special presentations.
At one presentation, the keynote speech will be given by Suzanne Hart, director of faculty and staff benefits, and will feature the new benefit plans as well as the myBenefits Decision Center where employees can estimate medical costs.
The other presentation, which is open to everyone, will demonstrate the university’s online learning tool from myLEARN designed to supplement traditional training methods and provide faculty and staff with more opportunities for developing skills while minimizing the demands on the campus’ limited training resources. Courses include business skills, desktop publishing skills, technology, legal compliance, environmental health and safety and leadership skills. Additionally, there are thousands of related books at one’s fingertips.
