Mark Adams, a mission worker with the Presbyterian Border Ministries in Agua Prieta, Mexico, will talk about the problems migrants face as they try to reach the U.S. at 7 p.m. April 5 in 113 Arts & Science.
Adam has served in Agua Prieta, in the northeastern cornoer of the Mexican state of Sonora, since 1998. As U.S. coordinator of the binational ministry, Frontera de Cristo, Adams, in partnership with the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico, coordinates six ministry areas: church development, health, family counseling, the New Hope Community Center, mission education and the Just Trade Center.
Adams presentation, “The Migration of Borders, Peoples and Policies,” will discuss the causes that drive migrants north, the journey itself and the lives they lead after arrival.
Adams’ visit is sponsored by the MU Peace Studies Program.The event is open to the public.
