Development staff recognized for commitment to MU’s core values

COLUMNS OF EXCELLENCE

Fifth annual event rewards six staffers

The University of Missouri’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations recently recognized six colleagues for their hard work and dedication with Columns of Excellence Awards.

The Columns of Excellence awards were created in 2006 to recognize and reward staff for outstanding service and contributions to MU and the division. The awards are based on the Mizzou Alumni Association’s six guideposts and the university’s core values: Discovery, Responsibility, Respect, Diversity, Pride and Tradition. So far 24 people have been recognized and the previous year’s award winners are the selection committee for the current year.

This year the division was proud to recognize:

Doris Mayuiers for Discovery. A nominee wrote: “Her institutional memory is a gem that she continues to polish, working its many facets to improve processes, procedures, reporting and training for all of us.”

Donna Steinmetz for Responsibility. The nominators wrote: “Donna knows gift processing inside and out and is a resource for the entire division and campus. One of her best attributes is her ability to communicate any issue or situation to non-accounting people.”

Christy Flood for Respect. Christy’s nominators used the following phrases to describe her: “Christy is very productive, thoughtful and conscientious; she has a great attitude and is dedicated to the College’s success.”

Abby Larson for Diversity. Abby’s nominator wrote: Abby is a ‘customer service star’ … Whatever the task, Abby comes to work each day dedicated to doing her best and that can do attitude is something we can all be proud of.”

Hongying James for Pride. Her nominator wrote: “I am proud to have her as a member of the Development and Alumni team. The pride Hongying takes in her work is obvious to all who work with her.”

Cindy Koestner for Tradition. Cindy’s nominators wrote: “Cindy is one of the first to enthusiastically embrace the Tiger spirit in our office. She brings a high level of professionalism, a strong sense of pride in her work and in the institution and a great work ethic to her position.”
