At a Faculty Council workshop Sept. 6, held in the Student Center’s Benton Bingham Ballroom, members discussed the possibility of creating a “faculty committee” that would perform a “root cause analysis” of how officials decided to close the Missouri Press, Faculty Council Chair Harry Tyrer said Monday.
“Council wants to start a conversation on shared governance, what it means and how it impacts all levels of the university,” Tyrer said.
In May, the University of Missouri System announced that the Missouri Press would be phased out. But on Aug. 28, the system said Mizzou would take over press management immediately.
Faculty Council will discuss the possibility of the committee’s formation at its Sept. 27 meeting in Memorial Union.
