Managing corporate risk

Academics and business professionals will gather at MU later this month for a two-day conference to examine how corporate governance manages risks amidst disruptive and transformational technologies.

Funded by a Mizzou Advantage grant, “Corporate Governance: The Role of the Board of Directors in Understanding/Managing Disruptive Technologies” will feature discussions between and among academics and practitioners on board composition, incentives and regulation, as well as opportunities for conducting cross-disciplinary research.

The event is May 20 at Cornell Hall and the Reynolds Alumni Center. Keynote speakers include:

  • Renee Adams, an international leading researcher on corporate governance who previously served at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York;
  • Edward Zajac, a leading researcher and educator in corporate governance;
  • David Haffner, is President and Chief Executive Officer, and a director, of Leggett & Platt, Inc;
  • Tom Melzer, a co-founder and managing director of RiverVest Venture Partners and former CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
