South Farm Agricultural Experiment Station, a 1,452-acre research, teaching and extension center, will open its doors for a day of science and fun Saturday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The free showcase, sponsored by the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station, will feature events that highlight the mission of South Farm, where researchers study improvements in swine, beef and crop production, alternative fuels, turfgrass, agroforestry and equine care.
Other activities include live music, a petting zoo, a corn maze, wagon rides and a tornado simulator. MU experts will share their knowledge on everything from how to have a greener lawn to better methods for training your dog. Bug expert Richard Houseman will fry up some insects for the culinary courageous.
