Anthony Swofford, author of Jarhead, a critically acclaimed memoir that went on to become a hit movie, will relate his experiences as a modern soldier, writer and teacher at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in Conservation Auditorium in the Anheuser-Busch Natural Resources Building.
Swofford served as a lance corporal in a U.S. Marine Corps Surveillance and Target Acquisition/Scout-Sniper platoon during the 1991 Gulf War. A reception and book signing will follow his presentation. The event is free.
