The campus community is invited to a reception for MU Police Chief Jack Watring, who will retire June 15. The retirement reception is 2–4 p.m. Monday, March 23, in the conference room at MU Police Department, 901 Virginia Ave.
Watring started his 47-year career in law enforcement as a patrolman with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He became an MU Police officer in March 1971. Over the decades, he helped build an accredited police department. Watring was named police chief in July 2003.
Maj. Doug Schwandt began serving as interim chief March 1.
