Joan Gabel, dean of the Trulaske College of Business, and Dr. Carolyn Henry, professor of oncology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, will be among the panelists at the Women in Science & Entrepreneurship Conference Nov. 14 in St. Louis.
The conference to be held at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, 975 N. Warson Road, will encourage women to pursue their goals in the sciences and business creation.
The event is free, though registration is required. Registration can be completed online or 8–9 a.m. at the center on the day of the event.
Participants may register for all four or select among the sessions.
First session 9–11:45 a.m.
• Leadership Discovery. Panelists discuss their career in science. Carolyn Henry is part of this panel.
• Building a Career in Science. Panelists discuss career paths for women in the sciences.
Second session, noon–1:30 p.m.
• Lunch and talk by keynote speaker Maxine Clark, founder of the retail chain Build-A-Bear Workshop
Third session, 1:30–3:45 p.m.
• Creating Your Own Path: Startups in Science. Women entrepreneurs discuss how they created a business.
• Climbing the Corporate Ladder: Careers in Industry. Panelists talk about how they became leaders in an industry. Joan Gabel is part of this discussion.
Fourth session, 4–5 p.m.
• Cocktail networking reception
