Faculty Recognition Awards honor faculty for longevity and accomplishments

Sixteen merit awards given to faculty at the Nov. 6 dinner in Reynolds Alumni Center

The Faculty Recognition Awards were held Nov. 6 in Reynolds Alumni Center. Thirty-six faculty received plaques for 25 years of service to MU.

Sixteen other awards were given to the following faculty members:

• Curators Professorship Award: Ian Worthington, history; Judy Wall, biochemistry; Laura King, psychological sciences

• William H. Byler Distinguished Professorship Award: Stephen Anderson, plant sciences

• Provost’s Outstanding Junior Faculty Teaching Award: Tina Bloom, nursing; Jerritt Frank, history; C. Wayne Keene, business

• Curators Teaching Professorship: Michael Budds, musicology

• Provost’s Outstanding Junior Faculty Research and Creative Activity Award: Clintin Davis-Stober, psychological sciences

• Excellence in Teaching with Technology Awards — Graduate: Newton D’souza, architectural studies

• Donald W. Fancher Provost Award for Outstanding Achievement in Extension and Continuing Education: Shirley Farrah, nursing

• Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Faculty Research and Creative Activity in the Performing Arts and Humanities: Stefan Freund, music

• MU Sustained Excellence Award: Bahram Mashhoon, physics

• Provost’s Award for Creative Extension Programming by New Faculty: G. Lee Miller, plant sciences

• Community Engagement Award: Wouter Montfrooij, physics

Excellence in Teaching with Technology Award — Undergraduate: Peter Motavalli, plant sciences

• Provost’s Leadership in International Education Award: Tola Pearce, women’s and gender studies

• MU Economic Development Award: Marilyn Rantz, nursing

• Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Faculty Research and Creative Activity in the Bio Sciences: Stefan Sarafianos, biochemistry

• Thomas Jefferson Award: Steven Watts, history
