New curators nominated

Gov. Jay Nixon has nominated David Steward, Don Cupps, and Craig Van Matre to the University of Missouri Board of Curators.

Stewart is the chairman of World Wide Technology,which provides technology products and services. Stewart, who serves on the Executive Advisory Board of Nixon’s Strategic Initiative for Economic Growth, will replace outgoing Curator David Wasinger.

Cupps, who has two degress from MU, practices law at Ellis, Cupps and Cole, and is the attorney for the city of Cassville. Cupps will replace outgoing Curator John Carnahan.

Van Matre also has two degrees from MU. He is president of the law firm Van Matre, Harrison, Hollis, Pitzer & Taylor in Columbia. Van Matre will replace outgoing Curator Bo Fraser.

The nominations are subject to Missouri Senate confirmation. If approved, all three would serve until Jan. 17, 2017
