Museum director takes on national role

Alex Barker, director of MU’s Museum of Art and Archaeology, became president of the national Council for Museum Anthropology in December, 2009. The council represents anthropologists working in or concerned with museums, including museum practice and the representation of culture.

For the previous four years, Barker served as the council’s vice president. Earlier, he received a national service award from the American Association of Museums for his work on that group’s museum accreditation program.
