Abell recognized for science education advances

Education Professor Sandra Abell was recently named a distinguished fellow by the National Science Teachers Association. The award recognizes extraordinary contributions to science education and long-standing service to science education at the local, state and national levels.

Abell, director of MU’s Science Education Center, is Curators’ Professor of Science Education and holds appointments in the departments of learning, teaching and curriculum, and in biological sciences. She is the primary investigator or co-primary investigator on a number of National Science Foundation-funded research projects to improve science teaching.
