The goal is in sight for the University’s 2009 United Way campaign, and faculty, staff and retirees are inching toward it. For this year’s campaign, the goal is $620,000. As of Nov. 16, campaign workers reported donations that total $584,522— or 97.1 percent of the goal. Although the official campaign is winding down, organizers stress that there is still time to give and help support the United Way agencies that make a difference in the community.
All this week, the Heart of Missouri United Way, which represents the mid-Missouri area, will be hosting Live United Week. One highlight of the week is the MU vs. KU Challenge. Students at both schools compete to see which can raise the most for United Way. The 48-hour event ends today, and you can spare some change for caring by donating at collection spots located at Lowry Mall and the Speakers Circle.
