MizzouRec offers options for faculty and staff

Its official name is the Student Recreation Center, but don’t let that fool you. MizzouRec offers facilities and programs for faculty and staff, too.

The normal membership option for faculty, staff and retirees is the same as for students, but if you’re an early riser, try the Tiger Express Program. Express members have limited access to the gym six days a week: 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and all day Saturday. If you can squeeze your workout in during those condensed hours, you can save $108 in the calendar year.

Boot Camp

The Rec is offering its first boot camp for faculty and staff Oct. 21 to Nov. 21. Led by personal trainers in a small-group setting, classes are designed around interval training — series of low- to high-intensity exercises that get your heart pumping in a short amount of time. There are two sessions: Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Cost is $59 for members and $99 for nonmemebers.
In addition to boot camps, zouLIFE also offers personal training sessions, fitness and body composition assessments, and nutrition sessions. For more information, visit

Family Night

On select Friday nights throughout the semester, MizzouRec members and their immediate family are invited to attend Mizzou Family Night at no cost. Extended family of members and community members are welcome to attend at a cost of $2 per person plus tax. Upcoming Family Nights: Nov. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Swim Lessons

The Mizzou Aquatic Center offers private adult swim lessons. Lessons are scheduled for 30 minutes, and scheduling is flexible. A single session is $20, and packages are also available. For more, email Margaret Stringer at
